Plastic Crusher Machine Price in Bangladesh: Choosing a Crusher or Shredder for a Recycling Unit

Crushed clear PET plastic bottles ready for a crusher

A plastic crusher (also called a granulator or shredder) cuts waste plastic — PET bottles, HDPE containers, crates, pipes or film — into small flakes so it can be washed, sold as flakes, or melted into pellets (dana). The right one for a small recycling unit in Bangladesh depends on what plastic you crush, how thick it is, whether you crush wet or dry, and how many kilos you need per hour. The plastic crusher machine price in Bangladesh moves with motor power, blade type, chamber size and screen; DE International sources crushers from manufacturers in China and delivers them to your site — ask us for a quote built around your material and volume.

This post goes deeper on the crusher itself. For the full line (washing, drying, extrusion), see our guide on plastic recycling machines for a dana business.

Crusher, shredder or granulator: what is the difference?

Sellers use these names loosely, but they describe different machines:

MachineHow it cutsBest for
Crusher / granulatorFast-spinning rotor with knives cuts against fixed bed knives; pieces fall through a screen once small enoughPET bottles, HDPE cans, crates, injection moulding scrap
Single or double shaft shredderSlow, high-torque shafts with hooked cutters tear materialLarge lumps, purge, thick pipes, drums, mixed bulky waste before granulating
Wet crusherGranulator with water sprayed into the chamberPET bottle flakes — water washes and cools while cutting
Film crusher / agglomeratorRotor designed for thin film, sometimes with a densifying stagePolythene bags, packaging film, woven sacks

For most small units in Dhaka, Narayanganj or Chattogram collecting bottles and household containers, a granulator-style crusher (dry or wet) is the starting machine. Shredders come in when material arrives in big, thick lumps.

What decides how a crusher performs?

  • Rotor design — claw-type rotors grip hollow items like bottles; flat-blade rotors suit sheets and thinner pieces. Ask which rotor the model uses and for what material it is designed.
  • Blade material — knives are made from tool steel grades; harder steel holds its edge longer but must be ground correctly. Blunt blades melt and smear plastic instead of cutting, which lowers output and raises motor load.
  • Screen size — the perforated screen under the rotor sets flake size. A smaller hole gives uniform flakes for extrusion but lowers throughput. Buyers often order one or two extra screens to change flake size for different customers.
  • Chamber opening — the feed mouth must take your largest item. A crate or a 20-litre container needs a much bigger chamber than bottles.
  • Motor power and flywheel — a heavier flywheel keeps the rotor turning through thick pieces without stalling.

Output figures in brochures are usually measured on ideal material. Thick, dirty or wet material reduces throughput, so give the supplier your real material mix and ask them to quote output for that.

Dry or wet crushing for PET bottles?

PET bottle flakes are sold by colour and cleanliness. Wet crushing sprays water into the chamber, which washes off some label glue and dirt, cools the blades and reduces dust. It means you need a drain, a water supply and somewhere to dry the flakes. Dry crushing is simpler but runs hotter, creates more dust, and the flakes still need washing if your buyer wants clean material.

Labels and caps are a separate issue: caps are usually PP or HDPE and labels are often PP film. In a washing line they are separated by a float-sink tank because PET sinks while PP and PE float. If you plan to sell clean PET flakes, plan for that tank, not only the crusher.

Step by step: setting up a small crusher unit

  1. Sort first. Separate PET, HDPE, PP and film by hand. Mixed plastic flakes sell for much less and are hard to extrude.
  2. Remove metal and stones. One bolt or stone can chip a blade or crack the screen. Many units add a magnet at the feed.
  3. Feed steadily. Overfeeding jams the rotor and trips the motor; underfeeding wastes power.
  4. Check flakes. Long strips or melted pieces mean blades need sharpening or the bed-knife gap needs resetting.
  5. Bag and store dry. Wet flakes stored in sacks smell and can grow mould; dry them before storage or sale.

Safety, noise and power

A crusher is one of the loudest and most dangerous machines in a small factory. Insist on a safety interlock that stops the rotor if the hopper or chamber is opened, an emergency stop within reach, and a feed hopper deep enough that a hand cannot reach the knives. Operators need ear protection. Most crushers above small size run on three-phase power; confirm 380–415V 50Hz in the contract and check your factory connection can handle the starting current of the motor — a star-delta starter or soft starter is often specified for larger motors.

What decides the price?

FactorWhy it matters
Motor power and chamber sizeSets output and the largest item it can take
Rotor type and blade steelBetter steel and rotor design last longer between sharpening
Wet or dry designWet crushers need water fittings and corrosion-resistant parts
Spare blades and screensOrdering a spare set with the machine avoids long downtime
Noise enclosure and safety featuresSound-proof hoods and interlocks add cost but protect workers
Freight, duty and VATCrushers are heavy; landed cost depends on weight and classification

Ask us for a current quote for your material and kilos per hour. We do not give a one-size price because a bottle crusher and a crate crusher are different machines.

What do flake buyers check before they pay?

A crusher only makes money if someone buys the flakes, so it helps to know what recyclers and extrusion units look at when your sacks arrive:

  • One polymer only. PVC mixed into PET is the classic problem: PVC degrades at PET processing temperatures and leaves black specks and brittle spots in the melt, so buyers reject or heavily discount flakes with PVC bottles or shrink labels mixed in.
  • Colour sorting. Clear PET flakes are worth more than mixed colour because they can go into more products. Sort clear, green and other colours before crushing, not after.
  • Moisture and dirt. Buyers weigh wet flakes as water, and dirt or label glue burns in the extruder. Dry, clean flakes get a better price per kilo.
  • Flake size consistency. Even flakes melt evenly. A worn screen or blunt knives produce dust and long strips that buyers dislike.

Ask your buyer for their specification before you choose a screen size and decide on wet or dry crushing — it is cheaper to build to their standard than to re-process later.

Common mistakes

  • Buying by motor power only. A strong motor with a small chamber still cannot take crates.
  • No spare blades. Blades need regular sharpening; without a second set the unit stops each time.
  • Crushing mixed plastic. It lowers the price of every kilo you sell.
  • Skipping metal removal. One piece of metal can cost a full set of blades.

FAQ

What is the plastic crusher machine price in Bangladesh?

It depends on motor power, chamber size, rotor and blade type, wet or dry design and spare parts. DE International quotes based on your plastic type and kilos per hour.

Which crusher is best for PET bottles?

A granulator with a claw-type rotor, often a wet crusher, suits PET bottles. Add a float-sink tank if you need clean flakes.

Can one crusher handle bottles and plastic film?

Not well. Film wraps around rotors designed for rigid plastic; film usually needs a film crusher or agglomerator.

How often do crusher blades need sharpening?

It depends on material and dirt. Sharpen when flakes come out stringy or melted; keep a spare blade set.
