Chocolate Making Machine Price in Bangladesh: What Machines Small-Scale Chocolate Production Needs

To start small-scale chocolate production in Bangladesh you need, at minimum, a melting and tempering machine, polycarbonate moulds, a vibrating table, a cooling cabinet or tunnel and a wrapping or packing machine; making your own chocolate mass from cocoa powder, sugar and fat adds a ball mill or refiner. The chocolate making machine price in Bangladesh depends on which route you choose, the batch size, the level of automation and the stainless steel grade. DE International sources chocolate machines from Chinese factories and delivers them door-to-door — ask us for a current quote for your planned products.

The biggest decision comes before any machine: what kind of chocolate you will make, because that decides almost the whole equipment list.

First decide: compound chocolate or real chocolate

Most chocolate-coated biscuits, wafers, cake decorations and low-cost bars sold in Bangladesh use compound chocolate, in which some or all of the cocoa butter is replaced with a vegetable fat. Real chocolate, often called couverture when it is made for coating, keeps cocoa butter as its fat.

This matters for machinery because of tempering. Cocoa butter can crystallise in several forms, and only one of them gives the snap, gloss and clean release from the mould that people expect. Tempering is the controlled heating, cooling and gentle reheating that encourages that stable crystal form. Real chocolate must be tempered; most compound chocolate made with lauric fats does not need tempering and simply melts and sets. So a compound-chocolate business can start with simpler melting equipment, while a real-chocolate business needs a proper tempering machine from day one.

For most new businesses in Bangladesh, the sensible start is the first or second route: buy ready chocolate, focus on moulding, fillings and packaging, and move to making your own mass only when volumes justify it.

The machines on a small chocolate line, step by step

  • Melting tank. A jacketed stainless steel tank, usually heated with water or oil around the inner wall so the chocolate never touches a direct hot surface. Direct heat burns chocolate and spoils the whole batch.
  • Tempering machine. Small workshops use batch or wheel-type tempering machines, where a rotating wheel lifts chocolate so it can be dipped into or poured from. Larger lines use continuous tempering machines that feed a moulding or enrobing line.
  • Moulds. Rigid polycarbonate moulds give a glossy surface and last much longer than thin plastic trays. You will need many more moulds than you think, because each one is tied up while chocolate sets.
  • Vibrating table. Shakes air bubbles out of filled moulds. Without it, bars show holes on the surface.
  • Cooling. A cooling cabinet for small batches or a cooling tunnel for continuous work. Cooling too fast or too cold can cause condensation and sugar bloom.
  • Enrober (optional). Coats biscuits, wafers, nuts or cake bars with a curtain of chocolate, usually with a cooling tunnel after it.
  • Packing. Foil wrapping, flow-wrap (pillow pack) machines or boxes, plus a date coding machine to print batch and expiry details.

If you plan to make your own chocolate mass, the ball mill or refiner grinds sugar and cocoa particles fine enough that the tongue cannot feel them. Grittiness is the most common complaint about locally made chocolate, and it usually comes from insufficient refining, not from the recipe.

Why heat and humidity decide your setup in Bangladesh

Chocolate is unusually sensitive to the climate Bangladesh has for much of the year. Two defects cause most problems:

  • Fat bloom — a grey, dull film when chocolate warms, partly melts and resets, or when it was badly tempered.
  • Sugar bloom — a white, rough surface when moisture condenses on cold chocolate and dissolves sugar, which then recrystallises. It often happens when chocolate comes out of a cold room straight into humid air.

This is why the production room itself is part of the equipment list. A real-chocolate workshop needs an air-conditioned room with controlled humidity, and the finished goods need cool storage and a sensible distribution plan. Our guide on mini cold storage for bakery and confectionery businesses explains how small chilled rooms are set up. Compound chocolate tolerates heat better, which is one more reason many Bangladeshi producers start with it.

What to check before buying chocolate machines from China

  • Food-contact steel. Every surface that touches chocolate should be food-grade stainless steel, with smooth welds that can be cleaned. Chocolate lines are cleaned with warm chocolate or dry methods more than water, so water traps and rough corners are a problem.
  • Temperature control. Ask how temperature is measured and held, how precise the controller is, and whether it shows the actual chocolate temperature or only the heating medium.
  • Power. Confirm single-phase or three-phase and the total load of heaters, motors and cooling, so your electrician can plan the supply. Heating elements draw steady current for hours.
  • Mould compatibility. If you buy moulds and a moulding line separately, make sure the mould size fits the machine.
  • Test run. Ask the factory to run the machine with chocolate, not just switch it on empty, and send a video. Better still, include it in a pre-shipment inspection.
  • Spare parts and manual. Heaters, thermocouples, controllers and motor belts are the usual wear items. Order spares with the machine and get an English manual and wiring diagram.

Licences and product rules for chocolate in Bangladesh

Selling chocolate is regulated separately from importing the machines. Chocolate products are among the food items that generally need BSTI certification before they are sold in Bangladesh, and food businesses also come under the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority. Labels need ingredient, date and producer details. Because these lists and rules change, confirm the current requirements with BSTI and your C&F agent before you launch. Our guides on BSTI certification and food import rules in Bangladesh explain the process for imported ingredients and finished goods.

Chocolate and confectionery machinery is usually classified under HS sub-heading 8438.20 (machinery for confectionery, cocoa or chocolate manufacture), but cooling equipment, packing machines and moulds have their own codes. Confirm each item with your C&F agent so the duty calculation is right. Our machinery customs clearance guide lists the documents.

Common mistakes when starting chocolate production

  • Buying a tempering machine for compound chocolate. Money is spent on equipment the product does not need.
  • Using real chocolate without climate control. Bars bloom on the shelf and customers return them.
  • Too few moulds. The machines stand idle because every mould is still in the cooler.
  • Skipping the vibrating table. Surface holes make the product look cheap.
  • Planning packaging last. Unwrapped chocolate picks up moisture and odours; packing has to be ready when production starts.

FAQ

What machines do I need to start a small chocolate business in Bangladesh?
A melting or tempering machine, polycarbonate moulds, a vibrating table, a cooling cabinet or tunnel and a wrapping machine. Making your own chocolate mass adds a ball mill or refiner.

Does compound chocolate need a tempering machine?
Most compound chocolate made with vegetable fat does not need tempering; it melts and sets. Real chocolate with cocoa butter must be tempered.

What is the chocolate making machine price in Bangladesh?
It depends on the production route, batch size, automation and steel grade, plus freight and duty. Ask DE International for a current quote for your products.

Why does chocolate turn white in Bangladesh?
Usually fat bloom from warming and resetting, or sugar bloom from moisture condensing on cold chocolate. Climate control and correct storage prevent most of it.
