Tea Packaging Machine Price in Bangladesh: Tea Bag, Pyramid and Pouch Machines Compared

Tea bag brewing in a clear glass cup, the end product of a tea packaging line

A tea packaging machine for a Bangladeshi business is one of three types: a tea bag machine (inner filter-paper bag, often with thread, tag and outer envelope), a pyramid tea bag machine using nylon or PLA mesh, or a pouch machine that fills loose or granular tea into laminated packs. The price depends on which bag style you want, speed, the dosing system and how much of the line (cartoning, overwrapping) is automated. DE International sources all three types from Chinese manufacturers and delivers them to Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram; ask us for a current quote for your bag style and output.

Why does CTC tea matter when choosing a machine?

Most tea produced in Bangladesh is CTC (crush, tear, curl), which comes as small, fairly uniform granules. That is good news for small packers, because granules flow well and a volumetric cup filler can dose them reasonably consistently. Fannings and dust grades, which are used in tea bags, are much finer; they create airborne dust that can contaminate heat-seal jaws and cause weak seals. When you send an RFQ, tell the manufacturer exactly which grade you will pack (BOP, PD, dust, or a blend) and, if possible, send a sample. A machine tuned for whole-leaf Chinese green tea may dose a Bangladeshi dust grade badly.

Humidity is the second local factor. Tea absorbs moisture and loses aroma, and Bangladesh’s monsoon months make this worse. For pouches, use a laminated film with a good moisture barrier and ask for a sealing test with your chosen film. For tea bags, an outer envelope or an overwrapped carton helps protect the product on shop shelves.

What decides the price of a tea packaging machine?

  • Bag style: a plain single-chamber bag is the simplest; thread, tag and envelope each add mechanisms. Double-chamber bags and pyramid bags need more complex machines.
  • Speed: faster machines need better cams, servo drives and more precise controls.
  • Dosing system: volumetric cups are simplest; auger fillers and electronic weighers cost more but dose more accurately.
  • Seal type: heat-seal paper vs ultrasonic sealing for mesh pyramids.
  • Materials and components: stainless steel contact parts, branded PLC, servo motors and touch screens.
  • Line extent: whether you also buy a cartoner, overwrapper, date coder or metal detector.

Because each of these changes the quote, we do not publish fixed prices. Tell us your bag style, grade and target output and we will collect comparable quotes from several Chinese manufacturers.

What packing materials will I need to keep in stock?

A tea bag machine is only as reliable as its materials. Filter paper must match the machine: heat-seal paper is used on machines that seal by heat, while thread-and-tag machines often use non-heat-seal paper that is folded and stapled or knotted. Mixing these up is a common reason for jams. You will also need thread, tag paper, envelope paper, and cartons. Many Bangladeshi packers import filter paper rolls together with the machine on the first shipment, because local supply of the exact width and grade can be uncertain. Ask the machine supplier for the exact roll width, core diameter and paper weight their machine is set for.

Which licences apply to packing tea in Bangladesh?

Tea is a regulated commodity in Bangladesh. If you blend or packet tea for sale, check whether you need registration or a licence from the Bangladesh Tea Board as a packeteer, as well as any BSTI requirements and labelling rules for packaged food. You will also need a trade licence and, for importing the machine in your company’s name, an IRC. Requirements can change, so confirm the current rules before you start production. See our notes on labelling requirements for packaged goods.

How do I test a tea packaging machine before it ships?

  • Send your tea: ask the factory to run your grade, not their sample tea.
  • Check dose consistency: weigh a run of bags or pouches and look at the spread, not just the average.
  • Check seals: pull-test tea bag seals and squeeze-test pouches; look for tea dust trapped in the seal.
  • Check thread and tag placement: misplaced tags are a sign of poor timing adjustment.
  • Count spare parts: cutting knives, heating elements, sealing jaws and belts should be on the packing list.
  • Get a video of the full test with a visible clock, so you can see real running speed.

We arrange this as part of pre-shipment inspection.

How should I plan output, staffing and pack sizes?

Work backward from sales, not from the machine brochure. Estimate how many boxes or pouches you can realistically sell in a month during your first year, divide by the working days and hours you plan to run, and that gives the output you actually need. Most small packers find that a modest machine running a full shift is a better investment than a fast machine running for an hour. Remember that every change of pack size or tea grade means stopping the machine, cleaning out the dosing system, changing forming parts or cups, and running test bags; if you plan many pack sizes, ask the supplier how long a changeover takes and which parts must be swapped.

Staffing is the other half of the plan. One trained operator can usually run a tea bag or pouch machine, but someone must also feed materials, check weights, pack bags into cartons and keep records for each batch. If you skip the people in your plan, the machine output never reaches the shop. Ask the manufacturer for remote training by video and for an English operation manual before shipment, so your operator can practise on paper before the machine arrives.

Common mistakes when buying a tea packing machine

  • Choosing speed you cannot sell. A high-speed tea bag machine running two hours a day ties up capital that could fund marketing.
  • Wrong filter paper. The machine jams or seals poorly, and the supplier blames the paper.
  • No dust extraction. Fine tea dust builds up around jaws and electronics.
  • Forgetting the end of line. Bags still need boxing and overwrapping; doing this by hand may become the real bottleneck. See cartoning and overwrapping.
  • No voltage check. State your 220 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase supply in the RFQ.

FAQ

Which machine packs tea in small pouches in Bangladesh?
A vertical pouch packing machine with a volumetric cup filler suits granular CTC tea; use a weigher for leaf tea or premium packs.

What is the price of a tea bag packing machine in Bangladesh?
It depends on bag style, thread and tag, envelope, speed and dosing. Ask us for a current quote for your specification.

Can one machine make both tea bags and pouches?
Generally no. Tea bag machines and pouch machines are built differently; plan separate machines if you need both formats.

Do I need a licence to packet tea?
Check Bangladesh Tea Board registration for packeteers and BSTI and labelling rules before you start selling.
